ASK US ABOUT WILDFLOWER SEEDBALLS!!

VCMGA is proud to cooperate with
AgriLife Extension, Texas Master Gardeners, Texas Department of Transportation, and Texas Department of Agriculture on this Five Year Project to Paint Texas With Wildflowers.
On July 29, 2008 at 6:00 pm Victoria County Master Gardeners; their  spouses; Joe Janak, Extension Agent; and his wife met at the  Victoria Educational Garden for a cookout.  After enjoying grilled  hamburgers, fruit, chips, and salsa the work began.  Powdered clay,  mulch, and wildflower seeds were mixed with water to form a mud  that could be formed into balls.  This mud was passed out to each of the tables and everyone dug into the clay and started to make  small marble size balls from the mud.  These seed balls were then  placed on platters to dry.  After drying these seed balls were  packaged and given as favors at the media event  to kick off Painting Texas with  Wildflowers on October 23, 2008 at the South Texas Farm & Ranch Show.

Another event was held  October 1, 2008 at VEG to make more seedballs as all the seeballs were sold at the 2008 Fall Plant Sale.

Everyone had a great time and a large number of seedballs were left to dry at the end of the evening.
